Randy Johnson Gets Win 288

It would have been very easy to give up on Randy Johnson after his first couple of starts. Low inning counts, higher than normal run production and few shining moments contributed to a mediocre first three or four starts.

However, cutting the old man a break has been productive. Yesterday he pitched 7 full innings of shut out baseball. He says he felt great and even contributed to the Dbacks 4 runs by drawing a walk to load the bases.

He needs 12 more games to get to 300. Many have said that will happen next year. If he stays healthy and continues to improve like he’s shown in his last 2 outings, 300 will happen this year.

In case you haven’t heard, Doug Davis is cancer free. He will make his first of two starts Saturday for the Tucson Sidewinders and will probably be back in the rotation shortly.

As a fan you can’t help but like Doug Davis. What he did last year to help the Dbacks win the west was awesome. He seems like a genuinely nice guy and will be an awesome third behind Webb and Hiren.

Good pitching today and even better hitting. Maybe this will be the end of the average scoring and we can go back to mondo scoring.

“I admit, I’ve got Max Scherzer fever. It’s to the point that, as you’re reading this, I am probably on a plane heading to Phoenix, just so I can get a glimpse of the guy. From what I heard, in his first big-league appearance, Scherzer threw a pitch that went 134 mph. He faced 13 batters and struck out 16. I also heard he killed himself a b’ar when he was only three.”

Seems like the only time the Diamondbacks get national press coverage is when they play an east coast team. Even though they are the best in baseball right now. Kind of makes you sick of the media!
